Following on from the success of the Komodo trip in August on the Palau Siren, we’re doing another liveaboard trip with the Siren Fleet to the Visayan Islands in the Philippines on the Philippine Siren. The Philippine Siren is virtually identical to the Palau Siren and so must be a very comfortable boat. All meals, tea, coffee, soft drinks and beer are included in the prices as are all the dives, including Nitrox (for certified divers) and dive gear, except computers and torches.
The plan is to encounter rare Thresher sharks frequently sighted in this area and the Whale Sharks of Oslob that feed from the hands of local fishermen. The coral reefs in the Visayas feature large schools of fish and macro life abounds providing world class marine life encounters and unique diving opportunities
The trip is for 9 days and 8 nights leaving from Sydney on 4 July 2013 and returning on 12 July. The cost is from $4,101 per diver.
There are a couple of spots left for this trip – which leaves in a month. Call the shop to reserve a place.

What better way to celebrate our Monarch’s birthday than a dive trip away to Forster. OK, so it isn’t really her birthday but that doesn’t mean you can’t come for a dive trip.
Friday 7th to Monday 10th June 2013.
The trip is on the long weekend from Friday 7th June to Monday 10th of June and includes cabin style accommodation for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, including breakfast on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings.
5 Boat Dives
Includes 2 boat dives on Saturday, 2 boat dives on Sunday and one boat dive on Monday, all with Action Divers. Some of the dives should be with grey nurse sharks.
Families are also welcome with a reduced price for non-divers. Please contact the shop for a special quote.
Spots are filling fast, so don’t delay! Give us a call on 02 9502 2221 or email us at email@example.com

There is NO CLUB MEETING on tonight.
As discussed at the November club night, many club members are away on holidays and we have decided to wait until February 2013 for our club meeting. At this meeting we will have stories and photos from our Hideaway NYE trip and lots of other information about trips and courses for this year.
Here’s an interesting trip to Espiritu Santo, Vanuato in August 2103. The trip includes flights, 8 shore dives, breakfast and accommodation.
The cost of the trip is $1,885 per diver leaving from Sydney.

So… you have just completed your open water course. You can tick the “Learn to dive” box and move on to something else, right? Well, you could, but you could also use the skill you have just learned and explore the amazing underwater world.
Diving in Sydney might seem uninteresting, especially when compared to tropical diving but there is amazing number of animals to see around Sydney. Many of the animals we see you won’t ever see in the tropics, such as weedy seadragons, Port Jackson sharks at pineapplefish. Some other animals are much more abundant and accessible in Sydney, such as cuttlefish, octopus and seahorses.
It’s on again!
As in previous years we’re having our New Year’s trip to Vanuatu and you’re all invited. We’ll be staying at the Hideaway Island Resort for 7 nights from 28th December to 4th January. You can come along and dive everyday or make a lazy holiday out of the trip.
Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is situated on its’ own private island, just a 5 minute ferry ride from the mainland and 15 minutes from Port Vila. Surrounded by the crystal clear waters of Mele Bay and live coral reefs supporting a diversity of prolific marine life, Hideaway Island has been declared a protected marine sanctuary. The reef in front of the resort is teeming with brilliantly coloured fish and marine life and can be explored by snorkelling or diving straight from the shore.

The Brief Report
Here’s a brief report of the club trip around Komodo Island, Indonesia in August 2012. Stay tuned for a more in depth report in a few weeks.
In the last two weeks in August, 14 dive club members (Adrian, Andrew, Allan, Bobby, John, Julie, Kay, Mike, Natalie, Peter, Ros, Sheila, Sheree and Steve) enjoyed a wonderful journey on board the Pa Siren traveling around Komodo Island and surrounding islands.
We are proud to announce that pre-mixed Nitrox 32% is now available at St George Underwater. Our dive club members will also enjoy discounted gas fill prices that keep a lid on fill prices. See our competitive pricing model below.
How does it work?
We pre-mix large amounts of Nitrox 32% and store it in our bank system, just like we do with normal air. When you come in for a fill, we decant directly from the bank into your cylinder.
When will it be available?
From August 2012, all staff at St George Underwater will be able to fill cylinders with Nitrox 32% from our dedicated Nitrox fill panel. It will be available during all shop open hours just like air.
Does my cylinder need to be oxygen cleaned?
As pure oxygen is never put directly into your cylinder, it does not need to be oxygen cleaned. The process is safe and saves you both time and money. Of course, if your tank has been oxygen cleaned the process won’t affect the tank so it can still be used for other mixes.
Can I still get other Nitrox mixes?
Yes. Custom mixes will continue to be available at the shop along with 100% oxygen and trimix on a request basis.
Can I top up my cylinder with Nitrox 32%?
Yes. We can top up cylinders that contain Nitrox 32%, air or other gases. There’s no need to drain the cylinder of you want a straight 32% top up.
Unlimited gas pricing available
We are also introducing a very special unlimited gas yearly offer. It allows a single nominated cylinder to be filled an unlimited number of times in a one year period. The catch is the gas must be either Nitorx 32% or air and you must pay in July.
Pre-paid 20 fill gas cards.
We still have the pre-paid gas cards with 20 fills which are a great way to save time and money. Simply buy a pre-pay card. which includes 20 fills and use them as you dive. Cards will now be available in Nitrox 32% and air. No cylinder restrictions exist so you can fill any cylinder you like with your credit.
You need to be certified to use Nitrox
Using Nitrox has lots of benefits, including extended no-deco bottom time, shorter surface intervals and increased safety. To start using Nitrox you’ll need to be certified and a PADI or TDI Nitrox course costs just $199. Courses can be run at almost any time so contact us if you need to get certified. You’ll also need a Nitrox capable dive computer and we have them available in the shop.
